Rolled Me in Dirt
ResilienceRolled me in dirt,
But I came out shinier
than the stars.
You shoot at my melanin,
But it ricocheted.
Skin so tough, hard to
penetrate.
I will be the better
person no more.
I will fight back not by
fists.
Oh not I!
Instead I will be what I
was meant to be,
The pioneer.
You take from me,
But all you touch turns
to tar.
We've paved your roads
with our blood.
Yet, you call us thieves.
Is it theft, if it first was ours? If it was first housed on our land.
You have invaded and colonised us.
And taken our kindness for weakness.
Now step aside while we take back,
All that's ours.
